OLIVIA AND THE GREAT FOREST PEACE MISSION

Intro

The animals of Whispering Forest have a problem.

Actually...

They have lots of problems.

The rabbits are arguing with the squirrels.

The squirrels are arguing with the birds.

The birds are arguing with the beavers.

And Lola the Sloth somehow keeps getting caught in the middle of everything.

When ten year old Olivia arrives with her loyal red panda friend, Lilly, and their cheerful bunny companion, Little Hopper, they discover the forest is becoming more divided every day.

With kindness, patience, and a little bit of courage, Olivia sets out on a mission to help the animals listen to one another, solve their disagreements, and remember what friendship really means.

But can one girl bring peace to an entire forest before the biggest argument of all tears it apart?

Chapter One

The Argument Tree

Olivia loved helping people.

Or animals.

Or anyone really.

So when Lilly the red panda came running through the forest one morning shouting,

"Emergency! Emergency! Huge emergency!"

Olivia knew it was going to be one of those days.

"What happened?"

"The squirrels and rabbits are arguing again!"

Olivia sighed.

"Again?"

Lilly nodded.

"They're at the Argument Tree."

Every animal in the forest knew about the Argument Tree.

Not because it caused arguments.

Because every argument somehow ended up there.

When Olivia arrived, dozens of animals were gathered around.

The rabbits looked angry.

The squirrels looked angry.

Even the birds looked annoyed.

"What happened?" asked Olivia.

A squirrel pointed.

"They stole our acorns!"

A rabbit pointed back.

"They stole our carrots!"

The crowd gasped dramatically.

Olivia examined the evidence.

Then she spotted something.

Tiny bite marks.

Very unusual bite marks.

Not squirrel.

Not rabbit.

Olivia smiled.

"I think neither of you took them."

The animals looked confused.

Then a burp came from above.

Everyone looked up.

Lola the sloth hung upside down from a branch.

Surrounded by acorn shells.

And carrot tops.

"Oh."

Chapter Two

Lola's Terrible Secret

Everyone stared.

Lola stared back.

One eye looked left.

The other looked somewhere completely different.

"Hello."

"You ate everything?" asked Olivia.

Lola smiled nervously.

"Possibly."

"You caused the whole argument!"

Lola thought about it.

"Accidentally."

The rabbits groaned.

The squirrels groaned.

The birds groaned because everybody else was groaning.

Olivia held up her hands.

"Let's fix this."

Lola slowly climbed down.

Which took twenty seven minutes.

Then she apologised.

"I'm sorry."

The rabbits forgave her.

The squirrels forgave her.

The argument ended.

Olivia smiled.

One problem solved.

Then Lilly pointed towards the river.

"Oh no."

"What now?"

"The beavers and ducks."

Olivia sighed.

Definitely one of those days.

Chapter Three

The Great River Disaster

The ducks were furious.

The beavers were furious.

The river was confused.

Apparently the beavers had built a dam.

The ducks claimed it ruined their swimming route.

The beavers claimed the ducks were being dramatic.

The ducks claimed the beavers were being stubborn.

The beavers claimed that was rude.

The ducks agreed.

Olivia sat beside the river.

"Let's hear both sides."

One duck explained.

One beaver explained.

Then another duck explained.

Then another beaver explained.

Then another duck.

Then another beaver.

Two hours later they were still explaining.

Lilly fell asleep.

Little Hopper fell asleep.

Even a fish looked bored.

Finally Olivia stood up.

"I have an idea."

Chapter Four

The Listening Circle

Olivia gathered everyone into a circle.

"No interrupting."

The animals nodded.

"No shouting."

The animals nodded.

"No dramatic fainting."

Everyone looked at Lola.

"What? That happened once."

The Listening Circle began.

Each animal got a turn.

Each animal had to listen.

Really listen.

Not just wait for their turn to talk.

Slowly something surprising happened.

The ducks understood why the beavers built the dam.

The beavers understood why the ducks were upset.

The arguing became quieter.

Then quieter.

Then disappeared completely.

Together they built a new waterway.

The ducks got their swimming route.

The beavers kept their dam.

Everyone cheered.

Even the fish.

Especially the fish.

Chapter Five

Little Hopper's Big Problem

For the first time all day, things seemed peaceful.

Too peaceful.

Olivia should have known it wouldn't last.

Little Hopper came bouncing towards her.

One blue eye.

One brown eye.

Both full of panic.

"Olivia!"

"What happened?"

"My best friend hates me!"

Olivia gasped.

Lilly gasped.

Lola gasped.

Then got hiccups.

"What happened?" asked Olivia.

Little Hopper looked miserable.

"We had an argument."

"About what?"

"A giant turnip."

Silence.

"A turnip?"

"It was a very important turnip."

Olivia wasn't convinced.

Across the meadow, another rabbit sat with crossed arms.

Clearly upset.

Little Hopper's ears drooped.

"I don't know how to fix it."

Olivia smiled gently.

"Then we'll figure it out together."

Because helping animals make peace wasn't just about solving arguments.

Sometimes it was about helping friends find their way back to each other.

And this might be the biggest challenge yet.

Chapter Six

The Great Turnip Mystery

Olivia sat between Little Hopper and his best friend, Benny Bunny.

Neither rabbit would look at the other.

Lilly sighed.

Lola somehow got stuck in a bush.

Again.

"Tell me what happened," said Olivia.

Little Hopper pointed.

"He stole my giant turnip."

Benny pointed back.

"It rolled into my garden."

"It was MY turnip."

"It landed in MY garden."

The rabbits glared.

Olivia thought carefully.

Then she asked the most important question.

"Where is the turnip now?"

Silence.

The rabbits looked around.

The turnip was gone.

Completely gone.

The argument stopped instantly.

Now they had a mystery.

Chapter Seven

The Sneaky Turnip Thief

The search began.

The friends looked everywhere.

Behind bushes.

Under logs.

Inside tree stumps.

Even in Lola's backpack.

"Why would a turnip be in my backpack?"

A turnip rolled out.

Everyone stared.

Lola stared.

"Oh."

Olivia picked up the turnip.

"Problem solved."

"No," said Benny.

"That's not the giant turnip."

They continued searching.

Eventually Lilly noticed muddy footprints leading into the forest.

The group followed them.

Round trees.

Across streams.

Over hills.

Until they found the culprit.

A family of hedgehogs.

Using the giant turnip as a table.

Chapter Eight

The Forest Friendship Festival

The hedgehogs apologised immediately.

"We thought nobody wanted it."

Little Hopper and Benny looked embarrassed.

They had been so busy arguing that nobody had checked where it had gone.

Olivia smiled.

"See?"

The rabbits nodded.

The argument was forgotten.

To celebrate, the animals decided to hold a Friendship Festival.

Everyone would bring something.

The rabbits brought carrots.

The squirrels brought acorns.

The ducks brought water lilies.

The beavers built benches.

The hedgehogs brought snacks.

Lola accidentally brought a shoe.

Nobody asked why.

Everything seemed perfect.

Until disaster struck.

Chapter Nine

The Biggest Argument Ever

The festival banner disappeared.

The giant banner took weeks to make.

Everyone loved it.

Now it was gone.

Immediately the accusations started.

"The squirrels took it."

"We did not."

"The ducks took it."

"We did not."

"The beavers took it."

"We definitely did not."

Within minutes the entire forest was arguing again.

Louder than ever.

Olivia climbed onto a tree stump.

"STOP!"

The forest fell silent.

She looked at all the animals.

"Did anyone actually see who took it?"

Nobody had.

Not one animal.

Then a tiny voice spoke.

"I know where it is."

Everyone turned.

It was Lola.

Covered in glitter.

And somehow wearing the banner as a cape.

Chapter Ten

The Kindness Tree

The forest exploded with laughter.

Even Lola laughed.

"I forgot I borrowed it."

Olivia shook her head.

"You cause more arguments than anyone."

"That's fair."

With the mystery solved, the Friendship Festival finally began.

Games were played.

Songs were sung.

Carrots were eaten.

A lot of carrots.

Then Olivia had one final idea.

Together, all the animals planted a special tree in the centre of the forest.

A Kindness Tree.

Whenever animals solved a disagreement peacefully, they would hang a ribbon on its branches.

By sunset the tree sparkled with colourful ribbons.

Olivia smiled.

The forest felt happier than ever.

Little Hopper and Benny were friends again.

The ducks and beavers worked together.

The squirrels and rabbits shared snacks.

Even Lola had managed to avoid causing problems for almost twenty minutes.

A new forest record.

As the sun set, Lilly sat beside Olivia.

"You know," said the red panda, "you never actually solve the problems."

Olivia looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

"You help everyone solve them themselves."

Olivia thought about that.

Then smiled.

Maybe Lilly was right.

Because the best peace wasn't something you gave people.

It was something they chose together.

And Whispering Forest had finally learned how.
