MIREYA AND THE MUSIC MAZE

MIREYA AND THE MUSIC MAZE

Written for a very special little girl who brings laughter, sparkle, and fun wherever they go 💜

Four children discover a magical board game hidden inside an old toy shop, but the moment the dice are rolled, the game pulls them into a living world filled with singing bridges, dancing pathways, bouncing obstacle courses, and mischievous musical magic.

To make it home again, they must complete every level before the final song ends.

But the Music Maze has one very important rule:

If you stop having fun…

The game stops helping you.

Chapter One

The Board Game With Golden Dice

Mireya found the board game hidden beneath Ariana’s bed during a rainy afternoon sleepover.

It was enormous.

Not normal board game enormous.

Treasure chest enormous.

Purple vines curled across the wooden box. Tiny gold music notes shimmered on the lid whenever light touched them. In the middle, glowing letters slowly appeared one by one.

THE MUSIC MAZE.

Melia gasped dramatically.

“Ohhhhhh. This already feels dangerous.”

Mai immediately dropped onto the carpet beside it.

“I call first turn.”

Ariana brushed dust from the lid carefully. “I don’t think it’s dangerous.”

The box suddenly clicked open by itself.

All four girls screamed.

Then stared at each other.

Then laughed.

Inside the box sat glowing dice, sparkling game pieces, and a folded note tied with silver ribbon.

Mireya untied it carefully.

The note read:

ROLL THE DICE.
FOLLOW THE MUSIC.
LAUGH LOUD.
AND NEVER LEAVE A PLAYER BEHIND.

Melia grinned.

“Well now we HAVE to play.”

The moment Mireya picked up the glowing dice, music floated softly through the room.

Not from a speaker.

Not from outside.

From the board itself.

And somewhere deep inside the game...

Something giggled back.

Chapter Two

The Living Game Board

The girls spread the board across Ariana’s bedroom floor.

The second it opened fully, the pieces moved by themselves.

Tiny glowing paths twisted across the board like dancing ribbons. Mini castles sparkled in the corners. Little stages rose up from nowhere.

Mai narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

“No normal game does this.”

Melia rolled the dice before anyone could stop her.

The cubes bounced once.

Twice.

Then exploded into glitter.

The bedroom vanished.

WHOOSH.

Mireya landed on soft purple grass with a surprised squeak.

Ariana tumbled beside her.

Mai rolled down a glowing hill yelling, “THIS IS AMAZING!”

Melia popped out of a giant trumpet shaped tunnel laughing hysterically.

Above them stretched a magical sky filled with floating music notes and glowing stars.

Huge pathways spread in every direction like a giant game board.

Some paths bounced like trampolines.

Others sang.

One nearby square burped loudly.

Melia pointed immediately.

“I love this place.”

A tiny floating creature zipped toward them. It looked like a fluffy pom pom with wings and enormous sparkly eyes.

“WELCOME PLAYERS!” it squeaked.

Mai crossed her arms.

“What happens if we lose?”

The creature gasped dramatically.

“Nobody has asked that in... probably seven minutes!”

That was not comforting at all.

Chapter Three

The Singing Bridge

The floating creature introduced itself as Bop.

Which Melia thought was the funniest name ever created.

Bop guided them toward the first challenge.

A giant glowing bridge stretched across sparkling water.

But instead of wooden planks...

The bridge was made from piano keys.

Each step made musical sounds.

Mireya stepped carefully onto the first key.

DING.

Mai stepped beside her.

BOOOONG.

Melia jumped onto three at once.

The bridge screamed an entire trumpet noise.

Ariana burst into laughter.

“Melia!”

“I didn’t know bridges could yell!”

Bop fluttered nervously.

“The bridge only works if players cross in rhythm.”

Mai immediately became competitive.

“Easy.”

She marched forward confidently.

But halfway across, she stepped on the wrong key.

Every piano note vanished.

The bridge disappeared beneath her feet.

Mai shrieked.

Then bounced safely upward instead of falling.

The girls stared.

Mai blinked slowly while floating upside down.

“…Okay that was actually kind of fun.”

Mireya laughed so hard she nearly missed her own step.

Soon all four girls were hopping, singing, and dancing their way across the glowing bridge together.

And beneath the water far below...

Something enormous moved.

Chapter Four

The Giggle Storm

Beyond the bridge stood a glowing forest filled with giant flowers taller than Ariana.

Every flower sang softly as the girls walked past.

Mireya spun slowly beneath sparkling vines.

“This place feels alive.”

“It IS alive,” Bop whispered.

Right on cue, one flower sneezed glitter directly into Melia’s face.

She blinked.

Then started giggling.

Not normal giggling.

Uncontrollable giggling.

“Uh oh,” Ariana said.

Melia collapsed onto the grass laughing so hard tears rolled down her cheeks.

Then Mai started laughing too.

Then Mireya.

Within seconds all four girls were helplessly giggling.

The trees shook.

The flowers bounced.

A wind suddenly swirled around them.

Bop gasped dramatically.

“THE GIGGLE STORM.”

Above them, pink clouds spun wildly across the sky.

Lightning crackled.

Except instead of thunder...

The clouds shouted things like:

“TOE POTATO.”

“BANANA ELBOW.”

“WOBBLY SOCKS.”

The girls laughed even harder.

Mireya clutched her stomach.

“I CAN’T BREATHE.”

Ariana wiped tears from her eyes.

“We have to calm down!”

But every time they tried...

The storm shouted something sillier.

Chapter Five

Mireya’s Music Box

The Giggle Storm finally faded after Mai accidentally snorted while laughing.

That somehow broke the curse immediately.

The girls collapsed beneath a glowing tree catching their breath.

“I think,” Melia wheezed, “I laughed out my actual soul.”

Bop floated in nervous circles.

“The Music Maze reacts to feelings. Big laughter creates big magic.”

Mai dusted herself off importantly.

“So basically Melia is a natural disaster.”

“Correct,” Ariana agreed.

The path ahead split into four glowing directions.

Each pathway shimmered a different colour.

Purple.
Blue.
Gold.
Pink.

A soft melody drifted from the gold path.

Mireya tilted her head.

“Do you hear that?”

Hidden beside the path sat a tiny music box glowing softly beneath vines.

Mireya picked it up carefully.

The second she touched it, the lid opened.

A beautiful tune echoed through the maze.

But then...

The board game sky flickered.

Just for a second.

The happy music warped into something slower.

Stranger.

And somewhere far away in the maze...

A deep voice whispered:

“Players found the first key.”

Then the music box snapped shut by itself.

Chapter Six

The Drum Cave

Bop guided the girls toward a glowing mountain shaped like a giant drum.

Booms echoed softly from inside.

“Why does every path here feel slightly dangerous?” Mai asked.

“Because danger builds character,” Melia said confidently.

Ariana raised an eyebrow. “You say that about everything.”

Inside the mountain, glowing crystals lit the walls in pink and blue. Huge drums stretched across the cave floor like stepping stones.

Bop fluttered ahead nervously.

“To continue, players must cross using rhythm.”

Mai grinned immediately.

“This is MY challenge.”

The first drum glowed gold beneath her feet.

BOOM.

Another lit up ahead.

BOOM BOOM.

Soon all four girls were hopping from drum to drum while music thundered through the cave.

Melia added dramatic dance moves for absolutely no reason.

Mireya nearly fell over laughing.

Then the cave rumbled.

The drums suddenly started playing back.

Not copying them.

Answering them.

A deeper rhythm echoed from somewhere in the darkness ahead.

Boom.
Boom.
BOOM.

The crystals flickered.

And two enormous glowing eyes opened inside the cave wall.

Chapter Seven

The Rhythm Beast

Mai froze mid step.

Melia slowly pointed upward.

“Please tell me caves don’t usually blink.”

The creature stepped forward from the shadows.

It was gigantic.

Soft purple fur covered its round body. Golden music notes floated around its horns. Every footstep made drum sounds echo through the cave.

But despite its size...

It looked mostly confused.

Bop gasped.

“The Rhythm Beast!”

The creature sniffed loudly.

Then sneezed sparkles everywhere.

Mireya blinked.

“That’s the terrifying monster?”

The Rhythm Beast lowered its giant head sadly.

“Nobody can keep rhythm anymore,” it boomed dramatically.

Melia placed both hands on her hips.

“That’s honestly heartbreaking.”

The beast explained that the cave’s magic only stayed balanced when people played music together. But players kept arguing, rushing, or trying to win alone.

Mai looked slightly guilty at that.

Very slightly.

Ariana stepped forward carefully.

“We can help.”

The beast sniffed hopefully.

So the girls climbed onto the giant glowing drums together.

Mireya counted softly.

“One... two... three...”

Boom.
Clap.
Boom boom.
Clap.

Soon the whole cave shook with music and laughter.

The Rhythm Beast’s eyes glowed brighter and brighter.

Then suddenly...

A hidden doorway opened deep inside the mountain.

Chapter Eight

The Backwards Song

Behind the hidden doorway stood a glowing theatre.

Rows of floating seats hovered in the air. A golden stage shimmered beneath sparkling lights.

A sign above the curtains read:

SING THE SONG.
SAVE THE MAZE.

Mai frowned.

“That sounds suspiciously important.”

Music suddenly filled the theatre.

But something sounded wrong.

Very wrong.

The song played backwards.

Words came out scrambled.

The curtains sneezed.

One violin exploded into bubbles.

Melia burst into laughter.

“This place is broken.”

Then Bop gasped in horror.

“Oh no.”

“What?” Ariana asked.

“The Music Maze is glitching.”

The stage flickered strangely.

The floating lights blinked on and off.

Even the giant game board sky above the theatre cracked for one second like broken glass.

Mireya slowly remembered the voice from the music box.

Players found the first key.

“There’s something hidden in this maze,” she whispered.

The backwards song suddenly grew louder.

The theatre shook.

Then glowing letters appeared above the stage:

SECOND KEY REQUIRED.

And somewhere far away...

Something laughed.

Chapter Nine

The Maze Master

The girls followed a spiral staircase beneath the theatre.

Lower.
Lower.
Lower.

Until they reached a room filled with floating keys.

Hundreds of them.

Gold keys.
Crystal keys.
Music note keys.

And in the centre stood a tall shadowy figure wearing a glowing mask.

Mai immediately whispered, “That’s definitely the villain.”

The figure laughed softly.

“Villain is such an unfriendly word.”

Bop hid behind Melia’s hair.

“The Maze Master.”

The figure bowed dramatically.

“You have done very well, players.”

Mireya stepped forward carefully.

“What are the keys for?”

The Maze Master touched the air gently.

The entire room lit up.

“The Music Maze was created from joy,” he explained softly. “Songs, games, dancing, friendship, laughter. But magic fades when people stop playing together.”

The girls listened quietly.

“The keys awaken the maze again.”

Ariana frowned slightly.

“Then why hide them?”

The Maze Master’s mask flickered.

“Because only players who help each other can unlock them.”

Melia folded her arms proudly.

“Well obviously we’re amazing at that.”

Mai snorted.

“You literally caused a Giggle Storm.”

“AND survived it.”

The Maze Master laughed for real that time.

Then he handed Mireya a glowing silver key.

“One challenge remains.”

Chapter Ten

The Final Roll

The girls stood at the very centre of the Music Maze.

Above them floated giant glowing dice larger than cars.

The pathways shimmered beneath the stars.

Every place they had visited glowed softly around them.

The piano bridge.
The singing forest.
The drum cave.
The theatre.

The Maze Master raised one hand.

“One final roll decides whether the maze remains awake.”

Mireya held the silver key tightly.

“What do we do?”

“Play,” he answered simply.

The giant dice floated into the air.

Mai cracked her knuckles dramatically.

“This is my moment.”

“Please don’t yell at the magic cubes,” Ariana warned.

Too late.

Mai shouted:

“BIG ROLL ENERGY.”

The dice exploded into spinning light.

Music burst across the maze.

The pathways lit up gold.

The floating stars began dancing through the sky.

And suddenly every challenge they had completed came alive at once.

The bridge sang.
The flowers giggled.
The drums boomed.

The whole maze awakened in one enormous wave of magic.

Bop zoomed through the air screaming happily.

“THE MAZE IS SAVED!”

The Maze Master smiled softly.

Then the board game beneath their feet began glowing brighter and brighter.

The girls grabbed each other’s hands quickly.

“Everybody together!” Mireya shouted.

WHOOSH.

The bedroom returned around them instantly.

The board game sat quietly on the carpet again.

Silent.

Still.

Normal.

For a moment nobody spoke.

Then Melia looked at Mai.

“Big roll energy?”

Mai shrugged proudly.

“It worked.”

And beneath Ariana’s bed...

The board game glowed once more.
